Work through the most common reasons email is not delivered to or from your mailbox.
You are not receiving email
- Is the mailbox full? Check its usage bar in Email → Email Accounts. A full mailbox rejects new mail. See Changing an email password or mailbox size.
- Check the Junk folder in webmail. Genuine mail sometimes lands there.
- Check your MX records. If your domain uses Twerple's nameservers, look in Domains → DNS Zones for an MX record. If you have moved email to another provider, their MX records must be the only ones. If your DNS is elsewhere, the MX record there must point to your Twerple mail server.
- Is the domain new or recently moved? DNS changes can take a few hours to spread. Email sent before then may still go to the old provider.
- Is a forwarder involved? Check the forwarder's destinations and make sure two addresses do not forward to each other.
Your email is not reaching other people
- Did you get a bounce message? It usually explains the reason, for example an incorrect address or the recipient's full mailbox.
- Check your mail app's outgoing settings: port 465, SSL/TLS, with authentication on. See Email settings for your mail app.
- Is it landing in their spam? Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC. See Emails going to spam.
Still not working?
Open a support ticket with the sender's address, the recipient's address and the approximate time of a message that went missing. We can trace it in the mail server logs and tell you exactly what happened to it.
