Pointing your domain to Twerple

2 min read • Updated 2 weeks ago • Domains & DNS

Connect a domain to your Twerple hosting with nameservers or an A record, and how long the change takes.

Before your website appears on your domain, the domain has to point to your Twerple hosting. There are two ways to do it. Choose one.

This lets Twerple manage all of your domain's DNS, including the records for your website and email. It is the simplest option and the one we recommend.

  1. Find your Twerple nameservers. They are in your welcome email and in the Quick Stats card on your HostPanel dashboard.
  2. Sign in to the company where your domain is registered and find the nameserver settings for the domain.
  3. Replace the existing nameservers with the Twerple ones and save.

If your domain is registered with Twerple, open Domains in your client area, select the domain and update its nameservers there.

Option 2: add an A record

Use this if you want to keep your DNS with another provider, for example because your email is hosted elsewhere.

  1. Find your server's IP address in the Quick Stats card on your HostPanel dashboard, or on the Overview tab in your client area.
  2. At your DNS provider, create or edit an A record for @ (the domain itself) pointing to that IP address.
  3. Create a second A record for www pointing to the same address, or a CNAME record for www pointing to your domain.

With this option, your email records (MX) stay with your current provider and keep working as before.

How long does it take?

Most changes take effect within a few hours. Because networks around the world keep old DNS answers for a while, it can occasionally take up to 48 hours before everyone sees the new address. You can check your website before then with the preview link.

Moving from another host? Leave your old hosting running until the change has fully spread, so no visitor or email is lost in between.
