Install a Standard, Wildcard or EV certificate from Twerple or another provider.
Paid certificates add things the free certificate does not: a warranty, cover for every subdomain (Wildcard), or your verified company name (EV).
Certificates bought from Twerple
If you order an SSL certificate from us and your website is hosted with Twerple, we install it for you at no extra cost once it has been issued. Just complete the validation email from the certificate authority when it arrives.
Installing a certificate yourself
You need three things from your certificate provider:
- the certificate, a block of text starting with
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----; - the private key that was created together with the certificate request (CSR), starting with
-----BEGIN PRIVATE KEY-----or-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----; - the CA bundle (sometimes called the intermediate or chain certificates).
- Sign in to HostPanel and go to Domains → SSL/TLS.
- Select the domain.
- In Upload Custom Certificate, paste the certificate, the private key and the CA bundle into their fields, including the BEGIN and END lines.
- Save.
Paid certificates do not renew automatically. When yours is close to expiring, renew it with your provider and upload the new certificate the same way.
Need a certificate request (CSR)?
Most providers generate the CSR and private key for you. If yours asks you to supply a CSR, open a support ticket and we will create one for your domain.
If the upload fails
- Key does not match: the private key belongs to a different request. Use the key created with the CSR for this certificate.
- Format error: make sure each block includes its BEGIN and END lines and nothing else.
- Incomplete chain: paste the full CA bundle from your provider.
