Blocking an IP address from your website

1 min read • Updated 2 weeks ago • SSL & Security

Stop a specific visitor, bot or attacker from reaching your website.

If one address keeps attacking your site, scraping your content or filling your forms with spam, you can block it.

Blocking an address

  1. Sign in to HostPanel and go to Domains → Domain List.
  2. Click your domain and open the Security tab.
  3. Under IP Access Control, click Block IP and enter the address.
  4. Save. The address can no longer reach this website.

To unblock it, remove the entry from the same list.

Finding the address to block

Your website's statistics, your form submissions or a security plugin usually show the visitor's IP address. If you cannot find it, open a support ticket with the time of the problem and we will look it up in the server logs.

Blocking many addresses or whole countries

Blocking large ranges or countries is done on the server firewall, which our team manages. Open a support ticket and tell us what you would like blocked and why.

Attackers change addresses often, so a block is a quick fix rather than a cure. For lasting protection, turn on the web application firewall and keep your software updated.
