Lock a site's files so nothing can change them, not even a hacked admin account.
Freezing locks a WordPress site's files so they cannot be changed: not by plugins, not by WordPress itself, and not by someone who has stolen an admin password. It is ideal for sites that rarely change, such as a company brochure site.
Freezing a site
- Sign in to HostPanel and go to WP Toolkit → WordPress Sites.
- Select the site and click Freeze.
A lock icon appears next to the site.
What still works
- Your website works normally for visitors.
- You can still edit posts and pages in WordPress, because content is stored in the database.
- You can still reset the admin password from the toolkit.
What is blocked
- Installing, updating and deleting plugins and themes.
- WordPress core updates.
- Uploading new images and files.
- Security fixes, cache changes and restores from the toolkit.
Updating a frozen site
Click Unfreeze, make your changes and updates, then click Freeze again. Do this regularly so the site does not fall behind on security updates.
