Create a database and its user in one step, and get ready-made connection settings for your app.
Websites such as WordPress, online shops and most PHP applications store their content in a MySQL database. If you install WordPress with the WP Toolkit, the database is created for you, so you only need these steps for other software.
Creating the database
- Sign in to HostPanel and go to Databases → MySQL Databases.
- Create a new database and choose the domain it belongs to.
- Enter a name for the database. A database user with a matching name is suggested for you.
- Keep the generated password or enter your own, and save it somewhere safe: it is not shown again.
- Create the database.
You can also create databases on the Databases tab of your hosting in the client area.
About the names
Database and user names start with a prefix taken from your domain, followed by an underscore. For example.com, a database you call shop becomes example_shop. Dashes in the domain become underscores. Always use the full name, with the prefix, in your website's settings.
Ready-made settings for your app
After the database is created, the Connection String Wizard opens with configuration you can paste straight into WordPress, Laravel, Django, Node.js or PHP. You can also download each one as a file.
For the details to enter by hand, see Database connection details for your website.
Deleting a database
Use Delete on the database and type DELETE to confirm. This removes the database, its user and all of its data. Take a backup first with the Backup action.
